The Geriatric Evaluation & Management (GEM) inpatient unit is a model of multidisciplinary care of geriatric patients. The use of comprehensive geriatric assessment allows for state-of-the-art care of patients with the goal of enhancing the quality of life of older veterans. The GEM unit provides interdisciplinary management of medical, rehabilitation and psychosocial issues contributing to geriatric syndromes in an inpatient setting.
