FOR BEST RESULTS, USE OUR OBSERVATION PROTOCOL
The supervisor should conduct random checks during both week and weekend days and across all mealtimes--breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Ideally, he or she should observe the entire meal, from tray delivery to tray pick-up, and use our Quality Improvement Observation Form: Meals to record pertinent information.
Time-Saving Tip:
If a staff member is unable to observe the meal from start to finish, observations may be conducted at three times during the meal--beginning, middle, and end--to capture the same information.
