Position Title: Assistant Director for Academic Programs

Position Summary:
The Multicampus Program in Geriatric Medicine & Gerontology at the David Geffen School of Medicine, University of California, Los Angeles is recruiting an outstanding scholar to engage in educational program development, management, applied research and teaching in the areas of geriatric medicine and gerontology. The successful applicant will develop project and program initiatives in geriatric workforce preparation, practice improvement, interprofessional education, minority aging, and dissemination research. The successful applicant will also utilize management skills and experience to work with professional staff and interprofessional colleagues to develop, design, plan, implement and evaluate educational programs and projects within the Geriatric Education and Coordination Unit of the UCLA Multicampus Program in Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology.

Qualifications:
Applications are welcomed from those with doctoral degrees (PhD or equivalent) in relevant areas such as gerontology, public health, social welfare, nursing, and education. Successful candidates for this position will have earned a doctoral degree at the time of application and will have demonstrated experience in grant development, educational program planning and evaluation, project and budget management, evaluation and dissemination research, cross-site program collaboration, and teaching.

Preference will be given to applicants with evidence of potential for obtaining external research funding, educational program development and implementation experience and publications in relevant peer-reviewed journals.

Position: Faculty / Clinician-scientist

Position Summary: The Multicampus Program in Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology in the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, is recruiting for a Clinician-scientist junior faculty position. The faculty member will be expected to develop an independent research program. The position will include some outpatient, inpatient, and consult attending responsibilities and opportunities to attend on the Palliative Care service. Other responsibilities will include teaching UCLA medical students, medicine housestaff and geriatrics fellows.

Qualifications: Candidates must have completed geriatrics fellowship training and formal training in research at least at the Master’s level, including an advanced degree. Candidates must be Board certified in Internal Medicine and Geriatrics.

Position: Assistant Clinical Professor / Clinician-educator

Position Summary: The Multicampus Program in Geriatrics and Gerontology, UCLA School of Medicine, is recruiting for Health Sciences Assistant Clinical Professor positions (clinician-educators). The positions will include various amounts of ambulatory primary care, post-acute and long-term nursing home care, assisted living and continuing care retirement community, inpatient and consult attending responsibilities, and opportunities to attend on the Palliative Care service. Position: Geriatrics Nurse Practitioner

Position Summary: Under the general supervision of the geriatric medicine physician, assess and treat complex geriatric patients at various nursing home sites; Manage problems on post-acute and long term care residents; Assist in the education of medical students, residents, Fellows, and nurse practitioner students in complex Geriatrics assessment. Coordinate the care of patients and provide patient/family education to promote a smooth transition from admission to discharge. Provide coverage for the skilled-nursing-facility (SNF)-based physicians on established patients while they are on inpatient WARDS, UCLA Consult service and/or vacation. Help develop protocols for post-acute patient care that can be instituted at the facility to help better communication with the Nursing Staff and UCLA Geriatric Medicine Faculty. Major functions include collaborating with interdisciplinary team members, developing and implementing a discharge plan, providing detailed discharge instructions. Collaborate with team consisting of geriatricians and physicians in training (i.e. medical students, medical residents, and geriatrics fellows). Provide assistance in the education of physicians in training, and provide in-service education. Work with Geriatric team members, consulting and referring as appropriate, but retain responsibility for the ongoing clinical management of the patient.

Qualifications: Required: Masters Degree in Nursing with a Current California Nurse Practitioner Certificate and registered nurse license required. At least 3 years of nursing experience of RN and/or NP experience. Demonstrated skills in reading, interpreting, applying and/or following physician orders, UCLA policies, procedures, and written/verbal instructions; skills in presenting in-service education to nursing staff and physicians; skills in effective communication skills to educate and to convey information to patient/family/conservator/ caregiver accurately and professionally. Ability to perform primary care responsibilities according to the Standard Procedures for Nurse Practitioners as developed by the UCLA Division of Geriatrics. Ability to take medical histories, perform physical examinations, assessments and implement appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic plans using medical practice in collaboration with attending geriatrician or Geriatrics Fellow. Ability to triage and to manage problems as they arise. Knowledge of assessment and treatment of common geriatrics medical problems. Possess a high level of discretion in order to work with confidential information (i.e., patient's medical history). Experience with MS Excel, Access and Word software.Preferred: Experience with PDA. NP - Geriatric NP, FNP or Adult NP required. NP I -New Graduate NP or NP with less than 6 months experience NP II - 1 year or greater of NP experience
